One of my new favorite trends with bags are hard-shelled, graphic clutches, and Urania Gazelli knows exactly what she’s doing. I had the pleasure of meeting Urania Giourmetaki, the genius behind the brand, at the Premiere Classe trade show during Paris Fashion Week this fall, and she is an absolute doll. Started in 2010, these Plexiglas clutches are hand-made in the family’s factory in Greece, where they have specialized in Plexiglas for interior design for years.
The Spring 2014 collection features clutches designed after playing cards, a truly modern novelty. The earlier collections come in an array of neon colors, some with geometrical patterns, animal prints, and pretty embellishments. The Queen of Hearts is my personal favorite, and it’s already sold out! Some of them are even customizable, making it as unique as they come.
Urania Gazelli’s clutches have been seen on the arms of some of fashion’s elite, like Anna dello Russo and Karolina Kurkova. Having been featured in Vogue Russia, Harpers Bazaar and Netaporter, where I first discovered the brand, these clutches are quickly getting famous. This brand is changing the way women can make their purse stand out from the crowd, so snag yours today!
